Pearl Promise

Founded in 2008, Pearl Promise is a non-profit organization with a profound mission: to empower single-parent families in the St. Vrain Valley School District to move towards self-sufficiency by providing them with the hope and skills necessary to build economically and emotionally stable home environments through sustainable programs.

Our Journey:

Pearl Promise was born out of a deep understanding of the challenges faced by single-parent families in our community. We recognized that these families needed more than just assistance; they needed mentorship, encouragement, educational opportunities, and support to thrive. Thus, we embarked on a mission to make a difference in their lives.

In 2012, we achieved 501(c)3 status and welcomed our first Executive Director, marking a significant milestone in our journey. Since then, Pearl Promise, formerly known as The PEARL Group, has been steadfast in its commitment to ensuring that single-parent families in our community have the necessary support and resources for success.

The Need:

The prevalence of single-parent families has had a profound influence on the social, economic, and political landscape of family life. According to the 2023 Census, Longmont has a single-parent family population of 29.15%, with Boulder County at 25.05%, and the St. Vrain Valley School District at 24.36%. These statistics underscore the importance of our work..

Single parents are some of the most courageous individuals, and we believe in their potential. We aim to empower single parents to acquire the skills, education, and confidence necessary to become independent, breaking free from the need for any other person, program, or service.

The Challenge:

Unfortunately, statistics reveal the challenges that children from single-parent homes face. They are twice as likely to be incarcerated, and almost 2/3 of all youth suicides and nearly 3/4 of all high school drop-outs come from fatherless homes. High-achieving children are half as likely to come from single-parent homes compared to two-parent homes. Moreover, Boulder County has seen a concerning increase in childhood poverty since the beginning of the 21st century, becoming the second fastest-growing rate of childhood poverty in the nation.

There is an urgent need for more resources, individualized funding flexibility, volunteers, staff, and targeted training to support the success of single parents and their children.

Our Commitment:

At Pearl Promise, we are committed to making a difference. We believe in the potential of single-parent families, and we work tirelessly to provide them with the tools they need to overcome challenges and achieve self-sufficiency. Through our mentoring, educational programs, scholarships, transportation assistance, and other initiatives like G.E.M.S., Focus Pearls, and PEARL Kids, we strive to build a brighter future for single-parent families in our community.

Join us in our mission to uplift and empower single-parent families. Together, we can create a stronger, more resilient community where every family has the opportunity to thrive.
